Síol Na Gréine "Incandescence" press info

PRESS RELEASE
As part of its commitment to separating culture from profit, hi.arc.tow productions releases Síol Na Gréine's "Incandescence" under a Creative Commons copyright. It is free for anyone to download, to distribute and to copy so long as the attribution remains intact. Additionally but not contractually, its authors ask that anyone who enjoy the album acts to strengthen their local culture and its language, customs, values and people.
Síol Na Gréine ("Seed of the Sun") takes the listener away from a modern world of categories and numeric values to look at the playful will to thrive permeating all objects living and unliving in the universe. From the tiniest molecular structures to the vastest bodies of the universe within a singular organic network, this will is crafted from impulse signals and matter. Ten aural depictions of this process remind us of the underlying beauty of existence even in its ugliness, so that we can transcend the fatalism that brought us to a low point of selling art for money.
HESSIAN.ORG STATEMENT
As the debate regarding file sharing and the downloading of mp3s becomes circular, we at Hessian.org choose to look closer to the source of the contention. Art is expressed in patterns of words, sounds, or colors, but it must be transferred into physical form to reach its audience. In our current society, the only model for this transfer is commerce, because artists must also survive.
Using sales as a popularity counter in the hope of determining the better art from the lesser has not worked for our society, because as it turns out, most people want simple pleasures instead of challenge or complexity. The resulting market produced vapid music that left behind tons of plastic waste when its fickle consumers moved on to the next big thing, but it also produced disproportionate profits for record company owners. It seems those days are no more.
We suggest instead that we return art to a model that is independent of its physical transfer product, which is that of meaning. Meaningful art produces a profound change in its audience and conveys them between states of mind without trying to take over their brains as propaganda must. To this end, the Hessian Studies Center in colloboration with CORRUPT has created a policy of artistic independence.
Under this policy, all of our releases will be available under the Creative Commons license and freely downloadable for listening, copying and sending to others, so long as attribution remains intact. This method recognizes the new market, which is that art-products are promotion for artists, and returns art to its sacralized role in traditional society as something rare, personal and not a dumbed-down average to derive profits from the masses.

About CORRUPT
CORRUPT, a civilization watchdog and thinktank, believes humans form a mental image of the world which does not correspond to reality and so initiate the decay of civilizations. When individuals become corrupt and go into denial, they retaliate with passive aggression under the guise of morality. We aim to recognize the cognitive dissonance that spurs this process, point it out with research, and put people back on track toward a civilization designed around having a place in social structure, and less geared toward atomized individuals in competition for symbolic goals. Our meta-critical approach involves diagnosis of the present time, development of memes to explain it and the future we desire,
and working outside accepted and corrupted human control structures like politics, government, academia and religion.
